about

Maison rouge (1980), 30’05

France or Italy in the 15th century, or today. Or all four, France, Italy, the 15th century, today, superimposed.
The province. A large town. A convent.
And this teenager, an orphan of course, adopted from this convent. An orchard too, or perhaps just a fruit tree in the middle of the courtyard, with its fruits. A peach tree.
And that terrible feeling of raw things, like that strong smell of baked bread that you find in the centre of the city, especially on Sundays.
Or like those blank pages in that school, or rather in that convent. And the schoolbag too, thick, rough, almost empty.
Just an almost empty schoolbag.

Maison rouge (1980), 30’05
